My dream for Greensboro 06!
I've got a novel idea for the SBC Convention in Greensboro. Why don't we all come without any hidden agendas! What would happen if everyone decided to stop looking at the receipts from church budgets. What if we didn't mention how many baptisms we had? What if we didn't check to see if a church gave 10% to the CP? What if we quit nit-pickin?
What if we came together and worshiped God? What if we decided not to spend so much money on promotion and gave it to our missionaries? What if we began to confess our sins to one-another? What if we really prayed? What would happen if we actually invited God to come? What would happen if we allowed the Holy Spirit to purge of us of our self-centeredness? What would happen if we fell on our faces and sought God? I may be naive, but this is my dream for Greensboro 06. I pray my dream doesn't become a nightmare.

Kevin,
I think this is a realistic dream and can easily come true... Monday night at the Young Leaders conference.
The rest of the time, no way.
In fact, I will have an agenda for the convention. It will be to focus on our five themes. I will not, however, be talking about God's work in a way that seems to intimate that I am special or the root of the success that we see.
We can sit together, if you like. We can worship, vote and enjoy the peace that such an attitude can bring.
Art,
what I mean is no hidden agenda!
That sounds awesome, Kevin. Let's pray that God will move! Unfortunately, I have not seen enough of that in Southern Baptist life except when it came to missions. That's probably why all of this is such a big deal to us - because we care about the lost and also being in God's presence. Keep up the good work - may your tribe increase!
