Today I went to the monthly event in Burlington, NC called the Innovative Church Community. This is my second time to go. It is well worth the drive. It is a mixture of new and transitioning church pastors. Thanks again to "Den Mother" for getting me hooked up. It is held at Integrity Community Church. Bud Wrenn is the pastor and today he led the discussion today. Today we talked about Intentionality in Planning Your Church's Future. We discussed how a Vision is a compelling picture that depicts what could be and what should be in the church's future. Visioning comes natural for me. I thought the second topic was ironic because our staff already discussed my new series would be on this topic- Missional Planning. The mission is what we are going to do as a church. Bud said we should renew the mission every 7-10 years. The next two topics are areas were Strategic Planning and Tactical Planning. I'm grateful to have found people who do the last two well within our church. I work better from setting visions and the missions. We have some talented people who are strategic planners. It is cool to see how God sends people in path the are strong in areas that you are lacking. P.S. For those who are coming to the SBC Convention in Greensboro, Den Mother just e-mailed me with a great BBQ--Stamey's BBQ. Since she says she likes Eastern Carolina BBQ, I know it must be good!
