Plankeye
I don't even know if Plankeye is still around as a group. I saw them open up for the Newsboys a few years back. I love the name. They got it from Matthew 7:1-5 which talks about judging others. We've got to watch our attitudes. It is easy to judge others so that we look better. You watch a beauty pagent and we nit-pick a beautiful woman. We notice her big thighs or her crooked teeth. Yet we have pot bellies or are going bald. Jimmy Swaggart judged jim bakker when he was having an affair with Jessica Hahn. Then it was discovered that Swaggart himself was buying prostitutes! Unbelievable!
Jesus says in Matthew 7:3, " Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"
How often are we guilty of this? It is easy to judge others especially when we want to cover up our own sins! That is what politicians do. You accuse before people have a chance to look at you! We try to measure ourselves with others. The problem is we need to measure ourselves against God. When we do that it is hard to measure up!
"In Matthew 7:4 it says, " You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
The way God want us is to be humble before God! The humble will inherit the earth. For us recovering Pharisees this is something to think about.
