Professional Christians
Dan Reiland is a former staff member with John Maxwell's Injoy. He left a great job to become the executive pastor @ Crossroads Church in Lawrenceville, GA. He still writes an article for Injoy called the Pastor's coach. I get it via e-mail and he has great insight. In his most recent artical he say "Beware of Professional Christians." I wrote a post called The Church Police! arghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! about the dangers of Christians that nit-pick churches they don't agree with. Reiland says that his church prays that God won't send Christians to their church. Wow! How can that be! But, I understand why. Most Christians switch churches because they want their "needs" met! Who cares! Christians can get their needs met thru their daily time with God. We should be more interested in reaching our communities for Christ! Now, I think that every church needs to get a healthy dose of believers to join. But, it needs to be those who want to give rather than get! I am conviced of this, if we were busy "being" the church and leading people to Christ, we wouldn't have time to nit-pick. Today I prayed that God would send me a "person of peace" so I could share my faith. I had an opportunity to share with a man at Starbucks. I then talked to 3 other pastors there to also talk with him. We must be more Kingdom minded rather than our own selfish needs! I agree with Dan Reiland, Beware of Professional Christians because they are the ones who have hurt me in the past!
