Leaving the ministry?
No, not me but many young pastors and staff are leaving in droves. While I was @ Southwestern they told us that there were over 10,000 Southwestern Graduates living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area that were not serving in vocational ministry. Wow! I thought how sad, how could someone who was called by God leave the ministry? Then our family has experienced some tough times over the last 5 years and I can understand why. I have been tempted myself. My Brother-in-law offered me a job last year that was tempting from a financial standpoint. I would easily be making 6 figures. But my call is real and from God.
In the blog Naked Religion, he wrote Why young Pastors leave the ministry. I can relate to many of these. Sometimes you wonder if it is worth it. I hear junk like was said about me by a deacon last night and I'm tempted to say "adios." (That was for you Storm) But God called me, not bozos who think there is only one way to do ministry or a certain pastor!
I am grateful to all of you who have supported me eventhough I'm different than previous staff members. I am grateful to my friends all over the country who pray for me and give me support. I am grateful for Geoff Moore's song Only a fool, because when I wonder why I'm in this, I listen to that song and it reminds me that I am a fool but that is what Jesus wants!
