Some good trustee news
With all of the attention being placed on The International Mission Board this week, we forgot to notice the North American Mission Board Trustees met also. I must say I am impressed with how the NAMB trustees operate. The Christian Index, the Georgia Baptist paper, had some accusations recently about NAMB. Dr. Bob Reccord, the President of NAMB asked the NAMB trustees to investigate. You can read their report here. NAMB also reported about a meeting with all of the employees here.
The most intersting news is was given by Dr. Reccord who closed the meeting by communicating that three NAMB employees are no longer with the agency. Chuck Allen, chief operating officer, and Benj Smith, executive director of strategic planning, resigned Wednesday evening. Rick Forbus, director of leadership initiatives, is also no longer with the agency according to Reccord.
As I read the trustee report and the article about the meetings with employees and the trustees I was impressed. Obviously, they have held the employees at NAMB accountable for their actions. The news of the resignations make me assume that accounability is taken seriously at NAMB. I only wish the IMB BOT's could have acted in a similar manner. The NAMB trustees have held Dr. Reccord accountable to them. But they have supported him also. I did not read any disparaging remarks made by trustees about Dr. Reccord or any NAMB employees. Thanks to the NAMB trustees for displaying a Godly, repectful accountability for the SBC.
