I just don't understand.........

I really don't get some people. I found this on the ooze. I never knew that being a sports fan would send me to hell! Wow! I'm sure this sign is going to be flooding people into church! I just don't get it. I guess they are talking about themselves too, because it includes hypocrites. God save us from ourselves!

Oh I am soooooo in trouble. Really, I am. I mean, I'm at least five or six of those.

What if we already turned to Jesus? I wonder if the guy holding that sign could properly define "repent" for me. I think that might be the best help he could do. No, really.

I have several thoughts here, but I will not bore anyone - or force them to scroll past my comments excessively.

They remind me of some guys at Seminary. When I was living in the dorm, we had some guys that were absolute jerks - judgemental pharisees, really. They would openly abuse people who watched football on Sunday afternoons or baseball on the weeknights in the basement lounge. Their accusations centered around us worshiping football. I remember one time a guy held up a football and told us that we should bow down to our idol. Really.

These same people, by the way, could just have easily been accused of worshipping academics. They worried more about their grades than anyone I ever knew.

I remember being present when someone was talking to one of these guys after he graduated. Turns out that no one would hire him to be their pastor and he couldn't figure out why. His grades were excellent, after all, and he was very holy.

I can only say that I hope he is much further down the road now, as I am, in recovering from the pharisaical - with a tip of the hat to Kevin.

On the other hand, Friday night at Barton's D-Now, I just flat stated that some of them were going to go to Hell and they need to make a decision.

But I never yelled. I raised my voice when i read certain passages. But I never yelled. I was open about it. No emotional plea. No yelling. No condemnation. Simple encouragement to make the decision.

It's not the message, always, that needs to be changed. It's the messenger.

I just think the Bible and the Holy Spirit should convict not some crazy sign.

Also, show me where in the Bible it says that sports fans will spend etenity in hell because they like sports. Didn't Paul talk about athletes?
