A New Creation?
A teacher in Kentucky is considering what to do about being fired from her job after officials learned she appeared in an adult movie more than 10 years ago. She become a follower of Jesus after she was in the movie. But the school system fired her for something that happened 10 years ago. Read the story here.
II Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!I guess that doesn't apply in the school system. Would you be comfortable with this woman as your child's teacher?

Kevin, of course it doesn't apply to the school system. Jesus isn't allowed in school.
Excellent point Joe!
I think this is actually illegal. Especially since they suspended her pay. If she is a member of any of the teachers unions, the school may be in serious financial peril over this. If she isn't a union member, a lawyer who would take the case on a contengency would be even more scary.
This is reactionary, unwise and potentially disasterous. Most of all, it is judgemental - reflecting the picture at the top of your blog, Kevin.
Another great point Art!
I think the verse speaks for my view.
From what I've seen in some other schools, this lady's "former" life goes right along with the values being taught. :^)
How about this question: if this had been acts of homosexuality would the school system have reacted in the same way?
And to answer Kevin's question, No I would not have a problem with her teaching my child.
Kevin, I usually read your blog through an aggregator I use, but today I visited your site directly. That's one big hockey stick you've got sticking in your eye! Dude!
Always enjoy your thoughts.
Jamie,
I don't have the answer to your question. We homeschool anyway.
Paul,
Thanks for dropping by. Yes, my wife gave me grief about the picture because I took it myself. She said I should have asked her to help and not done it in the garage.
Kevin,
You make a good point. If she has truly changed her life then she can make a huge impact on those she teaches. I'm all for doing background checks. But I can't keep II Corinthians 5:17 out of my mind. My answer would be yes!
